Michele Hoben, a prolific independent artist with decades of experience in visual arts. In 1989 she embarked on a 20 year journey into visual arts. The sculptural art of hairdressing has led her to extensive travel around the world. 1990-2002 Hoben worked on national campaigns with famous celebrities and models in the film and print industry. This intense experience was yet another study of compositional, spatial design and perspective. After leaving the film industry Hoben worked her way back into painting and sculpture. In 2016 a sports injury left her with a short term injury which she then honed her drawing and painting interests.

Most recently her work can be viewed in galleries in New England. She continues her daily art practice in her personal studio in East Providence Rhode Island. Michele’s sculptural materials range from found objects, metal, plaster, cement, paper and fabric. Sculptures range in sizes from 1’ to 5’ and 1lbs to 250lbs. These figurative deconstructive objects demonstrate the artists’ courage of exploration. Hoben also continues to explore the medium of acrylic and oil paint. These paintings are rich in colors, found in her many experimental processes with brushstrokes controlled and deliberate, from loose to careless. Her paintings range from 5” x 7” to 48”x 54”. She delivers a story amongst the collections with words, mark making and layers of many mediums. Described as complicated but yet simple in composition. Testing life’s boundaries, she is described as a true artist, authentic, courageous, provoked and mindful. Micheles favored word is “WHY”

Michele’s interests are tennis, cycling, furniture design, travel, music, real estate and architecture. She is a dedicated restaurant owner in Boston for over 20 years and a mother of two. Open conversations about any of her interests and art is encouraged.
